NCSA is ranked #20 on Crain's "Fast Fifty" list of the fastest-growing companies in Chicago.
We're thrilled - but not for the reason you might think.
We don't talk a lot about "annual revenue" or "five-year growth projections" around our office. We're happy because it means that more people than ever are embracing "athleadership" - using sports to get ahead in life. Over a quarter of a million more than three years ago.
This means that more athletes are able to realize their dream of playing college sports while getting a great education that will help them succeed off the field. More families are getting scholarships that help them to deal with the rising cost of higher education. The college recruiting world is getting "flatter": coaches are able to recruit the best athletes from all over the country, not just in their area; and athletes are able to look at all the schools they could go to, and choose the one that's best for them.
The real story is that there is a movement of student-athletes around the nation who are using sports to save money, get ahead, and give back - and that movement is spreading like wildfire.
We're glad that our team could make that happen, but Crain's should really be giving the award to those athletes and their families.
